Oil prices are going down, globally, I mean. I just hope that this would translate to something significant and beneficial to us common tao. From last month’s almost 150 USD per barrel, it’s now trading at 120 something per barrel. That’s how economics work. And that is why I hate people who rant about increasing their salary, bringing down prices, and other anti-government chants. There is no way the gods of economics would ever allow that to happen. Which is my next rant.
Last night, I saw a group of kids staging a rally. Or probably just preparing for a rally for GMA’s SONA on Monday. And their chairman or PRO, I think, is saying they are demanding 9k across the board salary increase because according to their studies, you need 21K to decently survive in the metro. Right! I started working in college, with 2.5K a month, then, 5K before graduation, then, 10K after graduation. I can honestly say that we lived decently during those years. I have some extra jobs here and there — but this is exactly my point. You don’t go to your boss and ask 9K increase because you need 21K to live decently. Oh, if ever they’d give that across the board, I will definitely won’t be thankful because our economy will definitely experience a free-fall dive (more than twice or thrice our experience now). Hay naku…
Oh! J-Lo is back in the scene. After his Famas-worthy performance on his kidnapping and other life-threatening experiences (like threats sent through text messages, or sabi daw ni ano, kwan, and similar stuff), he is back and is now, I guess, posing to to talk about the real state of the nation. Right. He once said he doesn’t care about politics because he is just a technical person. So, after those campus tours and public appearances (for about 5 months?), he has suddenly acquired enough knowledge and awareness such that he is qualified to assess the real state of the nation? Riiiigghhht!
Two weeks ago, I think, CBCP has aired thier unsolicited advice on the increasing oil prices. The body suggested that the government remove the value added tax being imposed on oil prices. Huh? What happened to the sepration of church and state? I mean, there is no morality involve here. Or anything close to that for that matter. I cannot believe they suggested that! If i were the government, I would tax church properties and impose 12% value added tax on all contributions that the church receive.
And I am not getting any younger! Hehehe. LPGprice is almost 700 pesos per tank of 11kg (I still remember this at 120 pesos when I was young), a pack of yosi is around 30 pesos for a certain brand (my tatay used to buy one for around 5 pesos), minimum jeepney fare is at 8.50 (and yeah, during my time, it’s just 1 peso!)… arrrgg!
Can’t think of anything to post, so, here’s from an aspiring writer with a writer’s block at the moment.
